Gary started calling on us about 20 years ago. Once a year he would stop in and give us a light sale pitch. At the time we had no website. In time, I had my nephew design us a website and had Gary manage our domain names. The website did not draw much business and eventually was lost in the dungeon of every search engine. We then traded out with a customer who designed websites. This new website was supposed to be available for phone searches and was to get us out of the dungeons. It didn’t. A couple of years ago I asked Gary to redesign and bring us into the 21st century. He did. We are a business who has relied on repeat business and word of mouth advertising for over 40 years. We typically get six new customers per year. Now some months we get six new customers. When I ask new clients how did you find out about us, the most common answer is “I found you on-line. I designed my business web site for the first time in 2003. Since then I’ve updated it and done some google ad words. After meeting the owner Gary at a business meeting I made an appointment with him so he could look over what I’d been doing and see if there were any holes in my program. For about half an hour he did various searches. Another half hour was spent going over my web site – all the while asking me questions.
